What is Stackcell permanent formwork made of?

The stackcell formwork comprises of an injection moulded plastic spacer ,which is sandwiched between two sheets of 9mm form-ply to form a module size 2820mm x600mm. 

One complete module weighs 24kg and are made on your project, by the carpenters.

Lets call it "ON Site Manufacturing" The self compacting concrete is poured using a boom pump in a 3D printing fashion, by pouring the 1st layer up to 1m, and continuing with the 2 subsequent pours in the same day

  • ​Each module takes approximately 8 minutes to make.
  • A Plasterboard screw gun is used ... yep, that's it !  
  • The 30mpa concrete mix is very fluid and forms a monolithic solid structure.
  • The walls are Shear walls in nature, so are very good for seismic, as dense reinforcing can be used.

What is your fire rating of walls?

As per AS1530.4-2014, section 3. Vertical separating elements- Loadbearing .  a 140mm Stackcell wall achieves 240/240/240 (4hrs)

Can you actually automate concrete Deliveries?

Absolutely! 
​Its the same information you provide over the phone to dispatchers, we just simplified and automated it!

Is there a specific layout of walls that is cost effective?

Good Question! Yes, the optimal layout of walls is to provide 6m spans for the Traydec flooring, but we have done 6.5m spans and 7m spans.

It just means the slab thickness increases from 180mm to 200mm and 260mm. Keep the walls on all floors the same for optimal structural design.

For optimal cost advantage, the walls should line up vertically through the upper floors to reduce any transfer structure loads.

Do you need to take the exterior formply off?

Yes, the exterior facade formply gets taken off to comply with the "no combustibles in the cavity rules".

The internal Formply remains on, but could be taken off if required, and walls skimmed with plaster.

Do you need to apply a sealer coat or wrap to the exterior face of concrete?

No, because it is 30mpa concrete and by using our self compacting mix, it is very dense. More dense in fact than traditional concrete.

This is the reason, the internal fitout can begin without the external cladding being complete yet. We are seeing crush test results of 46mpa at 28 days.

Can you just sell us the wall system materials for our project?

Yes, absolutely! We offer a supply only option for your own carpenters to use and install the walls.

Is it cheaper than Blockwork?

About 15-20% cheaper than blockwork! You see, blockwork requires heavy scaffold internally, lots of different types of reinforcing, cutting saws, trained blocklayers, waste bins, water etc.

Can you really build an apartment in 3.6 days?

Yep! .....The formula is this.

start on site date - completion date (working days)/number of apartments
Its a Volume metric. The larger the development, the faster it goes.

Could you show our team how to implement the KIRSTEN Programme method?

Yes, absolutely! It is a free service when you use the Stackcell structure system on your project.

We advise your project manager or site team on how to use it, set you up with it. The great part is, once you use it once, you will wonder why the heck you didn't do it sooner!

Can we use you for just the walls and not the full structure?

Yes, you can for sure! But the automation features fall away and it becomes more expensive.

Its kinda like taking 4 of the 8 ingredients out of a chocolate cake recipe, and instead of following the recipe ,you make your own. Both cakes taste good, one just costs more! and takes longer!

We would prefer to offer you a supply only option then for the site teams to control.

Can i use Flat slab, Rib and infill type flooring?

Yes, you can. However, we have found these to be 20-30% more expensive than Traydec ,because of the shopdrawing process/design, double handling of flat slabs/beams .

If you think about it, why would you pour a flat slab in a factory miles away from your site, transport it on large trucks, sort it on site, double prop the slab, and then.....Pour it again! with a topping slab.

We recommend Traydec for ease and cost effective builds as seen across the last 1000 apartments already.

Can the system do columns and beams?

Yes, columns and beams can be done with Stackcell. We use 18mm formply and plastic extrusions to match, to form these.
